On top of this Dan went in for his “procedure” today at the hospital.
We actually have a name for his condition – here it goes – Eosinophilic Esophagitis. Basically he has trouble swallowing food due to food allergies and other stuff. They stretched his esophagus to 13mm (the average adult is about 20mm) and want him to continue treatments in hope that they can stretch it to 15-16mm. His esophagus is also rigid at the bottom, so they took a biopsy to make sure that everything was all right. We will hear back on that in about a week. Dan is looking forward to just being able to eat normally again.
Dan is so fun to watch waking up from anesthesia. He analyzes everything going on around him. I finally have to tell him to shut-up and rest. I love this guy!!
I didn't know their was anything wrong with Dan. That sucks. Is this comparable to the times Jeph was ellergic to food?
ReplyDeleteKinda, but not quite. Jeph has serious allergies where he swells up and almost needs and epi pen. Dan's is simply a permanently small esophagus that gets smaller as he eats certain foods, or just as time goes on. However, he was talking to Jeph and they think Jeph may have the same condition as well. Genetics stink sometimes.
ReplyDeleteHope everything went well with the surgery and that the eye is healing up nicely. Missed you at scouts. We have fun but it is more funner ;) when you are around. Off to california in the morning. See you sometime on sunday.
