Ian and Sarah’s Wedding

We celebrated my brother’s wedding at the beginning of May.  My boys love weddings.  They think they are parties for them or something like that.  Here are a few pics from the day.

They had dancing at the reception.  Alicia tried a little bit…yep just a sad sight I know.  Garrick love it though.

Haden would go and pick random teenage girls and get them to dance with him.  I swear he was dancing with someone new every time I looked over at him.  The kid has no fear of talking to girls.

Connor was there too.  He didn’t get to go to the temple, but he loved hanging out at the food table and eating whatever he wanted.  He also got a “grown-up” tie for the wedding.

Ian looks like a younger version of my Dad…I think this picture proves that he has some of Mom in him as well.  Didn’t realize they have the same smile.

Dear Tooth Fairy

Haden lost his first tooth this last week…and ate it.  He informed Mom that it was super loose, (which kind of gives mom the heebeegeebees), so she sends him down to Dad to have Dad look.  Dan tells him to eat his breakfast, and then they will take care of it. 

Well, guess what wasn’t there when breakfast was over.  And no where else to be found. 

Well, a little trauma over what the tooth fairy would do.  Here is Haden’s solution:

He was a happy boy when the tooth fairy still visited.  I’m going to give him a couple more  teeth and then we’re breaking the news to the 2 older boys.  I’m getting  too forgetful in my old age.  Still, it is cute to see their enthusiasm over the magic of it.

8 years old is a big deal. I'm becoming more and more aware of this every day.  Connor has grown so much this year. It seems like he is always doing something new. Here is a look at some things he has done this year.

The same week he turned 8 he was baptized. It was a great experience for the whole family. Almost everyone in our families attended and Connor couldn’t stop smiling. I can’t believe how fast that came!

How sad is it that my son can wear his short-sleeve cub scout shirt in the beginning of January without a problem. It was that kind of winter here.
Yep, Alicia’s year off from Cub Scouts is officially over. We are back in the saddle again…at least it is a parent this time. Must be honest. I’m glad for the experience I had as a leader, cause now I am an awesome parent when it comes to scouting. Oh, and I actually understand the program, which has saved a lot of headaches. Connor is just excited to be a “legit” cub scout now.
Along with scouting came the Space Derby for his first pack meeting. He worked really hard on his rocket, and Dan was in heaven helping him out.

Connor’s 2nd grade class presented a play called “Glow” and Connor got to be a spider. He LOVED his costume! (Oh, and he actually sang…which did his mother’s heart good!)


Connor had his end of year recital for piano in May. He catches on pretty quick to the music…especially when he associates it with something mathematical. I was impressed at how well he performed this time, since I knew the stress that he (mom) went into preparing the pieces. He was much more comfortable this time around.
 

 Please excuse the abrupt end.  I was running low on battery. 

Now we have soccer and swimming to look forward to.  Wow!  It is true how fast time goes as they get older.  Gotta love the kid!

Family Day Hike

One of the perks of living in a “smallish” town….cute family activities, that are NOT overly crowded!  PG holds a Family Day Hike in June that has fun activities for the kids and a free breakfast.  Not to mention, if you RSVP for the breakfast in advance, you automatically win prizes.  (I like when I know I will win something!)  Totally worth getting my family out the door by 8:30am on a Saturday.

After the breakfast we headed up the trail to the waterfall in Battlecreek Canyon.  Yep, I’ve heard about this waterfall since we moved here, but had never ventured up that canyon.  It was a pretty decent waterfall and the walk wasn’t bad at all.  Garrick was able to do the whole thing himself. 

We met up with our friends Robert and Julie, (Rob and Dan are friends from high school, and now they carpool to work because their companies are in the same building)  and all our kids had a blast running up the trail together.  They all wanted to be the first to see what the next activity was.

Check out the people rappelling behind them.  Looks like a blast.  Connor loved how close he could get to the waterfall. 

A very successful morning!  The boys were disappointed that we weren’t going to hike to the “G”, but were more than satisfied when they saw the waterfall.  It would be fun to go up later in the day, when it is warmer and cool off in the water.  I’m  wondering how busy it is during the summer?

We will definitely be signing up to do it again next year.  Oh, and a reporter from the Daily Herald interviewed us…so now I’m going to actually have to check and see if we made it into the papers!
