Haircut? What do You Mean Haircut?

Alicia finally bit the bullet and consented to letting Garrick get his haircut.  He is my first baby to actually have curls, and I just couldn’t bring myself to chopping them off.  But, I guess this is part of growing up.  Luckily, Dan took care of it, since I don’t think I could have made it through by myself.

He was actually pretty good about the whole thing.  Only a few tears.

DSC_3461

I just love his expression.  Don’t we all feel like this at times?  Now he’s moved on from being the baby to just one of the boys.

Nah, definitely still mama’s baby!  Just a little bit cuter.

Day Camp is Done

Not much to say. I survived another Cub Scout Day camp. I got a lot of great pictures, but I'm not in any of them, so in the view of privacy I'm not posting any pictures of the boys. Just celebrating that I'm done with day camp. At least this year....did I mention it was my 4th? Yep, I've been in cubs almost all of Haden's life. It really looks like I will be there until Connor finally gets to start going. :) Go scouts (with no sarcasm dripping from my voice whatsoever)!

Book Review: The Origin of Species

Yep, the one by Charles Darwin.  Nope, not going to actually review it.  Just celebrating finally finishing 650 pages on the theory of Natural Selection.  I’m FINALLY done (3 long, hard-fought weeks).  YIPPEEEEE!

The Origin Of Species: 150th Anniversary Edition

One more natural science book in my queue, and then I think it will be fluff for a couple of months.

Haden’s New Trick

Haden convinced us to take off his training wheels last week.  Now we can’t keep up with him.

DSC_3214Definitely a better experience on the small bike.  He caught on way too quick, much to his mother’s glee.  I was not looking forward to banged up elbows and knees all summer as he was trying to figure it out.

DSC_3218

He’s is really proud of himself as well.  He wants to show everyone he is a big boy who can ride all by himself.  In fact, yesterday he figured out how to stand up and pedal his bike at the same time.  Lovely.  Still trying to outdo his brother.

Summer Sports Camp Fever

It started.  Summer.  With a bang.  I understand why I was so hesitant for summer to come.  Oh well.  We are all having fun.  Okay, Connor is having fun, Alicia is just trying to keep up.

We signed Connor up for Fall/Spring soccer and with registration came a summer camp.  Which Alicia thought was a one day thing.  Nope.  2 days a week for all of June.  Add on to that, Connor had already been signed up for Little Hoopsters Basketball as his summer sport.  So we are having a little bit of sport overload this week, but Connor is loving every second of it.

DSC_3113

Today was the first time they actually got to play.  They limited it to about 5 on 5, so I could still see Connor in the pack of kids.

DSC_3118

I love how Connor is holding his tongue in this one.  Reminds me of…..me.  (Hey don’t we all look silly when we are really concentrating?)   DSC_3142

After soccer we run over to the Rec for basketball.  Let’s just say, Connor has a long way to go.

He’s going up for the layup and does this:

The only reasoning I can figure, is that the “coaches” told them they needed to think about where & how they were shooting.  He took them literally.

DSC_3200  It was even funnier when they tried to correct his jump for the layup.  Let’s just say he doesn’t quite have the hand-eye coordination yet.  At least he is having fun.  Ahh, we love summer.

Drunken Monkey Stage

So Garrick started walking a couple of weeks ago.  Finally.  Dan has always called this the drunken monkey stage.  I wish I had some video, but he gets too excited when I pull out the camera and drops quickly to crawl over.

Time for mom to re-baby-proof the house.

DSC_3068

Nah, he is just too sweet.  He would never get into anything he wasn’t supposed to.  Right?

Got the Zoo Out of the Way

Friday after school ended, we took off to SLC with grandparents and cousins for our annual zoo trip.  The weather was weird (ie…hot & sunny, and then rainstorms) but the kids had a blast running around the zoo.

DSC_3005

Haden literally walked around the entire zoo with his nose in the map.  He thought it was some kind of scavenger hunt.  He just wanted to mark off the animals on his map.

DSC_3015Connor and Haden checking out the new baby elephant.  They thought that was the best part of the zoo.

Garrick finally discovered he could stand up in his stroller, and hey, there is something going on over there.   Oh, and I just realized he is licking the fence.  Of course.  Poor kid.  Every other picture he is calmly sitting in the stroller waiting for someone to pay attention to him. Taking a time out at the monkey exhibit.  Thanks Grandpa for a great afternoon!  My kids loved it….oh and I love that I don’t have to go back this summer…hehehe.

Kindergarten Graduation

The school had to do something to fill up the 45 minutes Connor attended on the last day.  So it was a short and sweet graduation.  What can you say?  I love my child.

DSC_2966

Connor was actually pretty good about finding me with my camera and smiling.   They kids sang us a couple of songs.  Unfortunately my child is incapable of singing and doing actions at the same time.  So no decent video.

 DSC_2981

Here they are passing out their grade report.  Hey, you have to give the kid something right?

DSC_2988

Connor and his cute teacher.  This was her last year teaching.  She is heading back east to get her Ph.d.  AWESOME teacher.

DSC_2991

These three “angels” live 2 houses away from each other.  Oh, and will all be in the same class next year.  Boy is that a fun prospect!  Okay, for us at least.  Good thing teachers are used to this sort of thing.

Completion Celebration

Wish I had a good excuse for not putting this up last week.  Nope, just lazy and didn’t want to edit photos.  So here we go.

Ahhh, the last week of school.  One of Alicia’s least favorite weeks of the year.  Haden finished his preschool on Wednesday.  Instead of doing a Graduation, they did a celebration picnic. (Most of the kids will be back again next year).  The kids got balloons and cupcakes.  What else can make a 4 year old happier?

DSC_2915 DSC_2917  DSC_2955

I love the look of intent concentration as he tries to shove the entire cupcake in his mouth at once.  Of course that is after he licked off all the icing.  Disgusting!

Haden had a great year at preschool, and learned a lot.  He is already farther along than Connor when Connor went into kindergarten.  I was really impressed with what the neighborhood ladies put together, and can’t wait until next year.  Thanks everyone for a great year!
