Day 2 and 3 were our biggest days. On Thursday we took off on a drive up American Fork Canyon. I wanted to drive up the Alpine Loop and stop and have lunch at Cascade Springs. My Dad loves driving up into the mountains to enjoy the view and would throw us all in the car and take off to various places. I also remember my Grandma and Grandpa Hawkins taking me to Cascade Springs to walk along the boardwalks and look at the waterfalls and fish. My Grandma didn’t get out much since she didn’t drive, but Grandpa would take her on long drives around Utah Lake or up the Canyon so she could enjoy nature. Luckily, they would grab one or two of us grandchildren and take us up with them.
Alas, remembering these fond times did not last long on this trip. Alicia and the 2 boys got carsick on the way up the loop and it turned into a panic of trying to find something for everyone to throw-up in, since Alicia didn’t want it in her new car. GAG!! But we made it!
Don’t we look happy! It was worth a try though.
After the Springs we headed over the mountain to Heber, and what trip through Heber without stopping at:
We LOVE those shakes….on a side note, I am starting to realize how much of enjoyment in life is wrapped around food. Is there something wrong with that?
After our pit stop we went to spend the night up in Park City. Of course the weather was bad, so we ended up spending the evening doing some shopping at the outlets, and, of course, the hotel pool.
Garrick had his first chance to swim, and took to it as well as anything. He just sat in the raft quietly looking around. Dan go him out and was helping him float through the water and he was just as placid as could be. Granted, he has got a thick layer of chub to insulate him from the cold water.
Boy did we have tired boys. Thank goodness they slept well! On to another exciting day.
