Fish Lake ‘09

What a blast!  Once again it was just my immediate family.  One last campout before Ian leaves on his mission.  We camped at a different campground and liked it almost as much as Mackinaw.  I say almost just because we were lucky enough to pick the only 2 campsites with no direct path to a bathroom.  That was no fun.  Luckily my boys love peeing on rocks, so we weren’t having to make quite as many bathroom breaks.

One of the great benefits was that we could actually see the lake from our sites.  We love Fish Lake!  Alas, no fishing, again (why would you want to fish at a place called Fish Lake?).  Next year we are going to plan ahead a little more and actually get a boat to go out on the lake.IMGP4740

Went for one less day than usual, but had fun hanging around camp on Sunday and then our usual day trip to Capitol Reef on Monday.

The boys loved their new water backpacks.  They felt really grownup drinking their own water.  The did great (until the end) on the 3 mile Lakeshore Trail.  However, when they were done, they were DONE!

We braided leather bracelets and put beads on them for an afternoon craft.

And Sunday could not be complete without the marshmallow gun fight with all the boys.  (And us girls stuck in the middle.  Literally)

I’ve been told that I can’t post the picture of the truce-flag that was waved to let people out of the trailer.  Use your imagination.

Garrick sat calmly through everything.  Which was great since his feeding schedule went completely out of whack.  Boy has this little boy been a blessing!

Oh, and camping would not be complete without its bumped elbows and knees.  Next time I need to remember to take a before and after picture of my children’s limbs so we can do a comparison.
