Crafternoon

Last Fall, my b-i-l Mark began a new work schedule.  Basically between work and school he is gone ALL day and night.  So Tiff and I decided to start crafting to fill her evenings.  We were both discouraged about epic failures in our crafting endeavors, so why not fail together and make it fun. 

Now, when it comes to failing, who better to share it with than ALL of your sisters??  Thus, Crafternoon was born.  Why the name?  Because whoever says that a craft is super fast and simple LIES!!  We quickly discovered that we literally take all afternoon, or evening to finish!  So here is some of the stuff we have attempted (oh, and the lessons we have learned)

Craft #1 – Candlestick sign-post

Our first experience with wood, a saw, a drill, and spray paint.
Lesson Learned:  Make sure that you have a good battery on the saw.  Oh, and spray paint is of the devil.

Craft #2 – Frosty Hat Centerpiece

First experience with hot glue, and cutesy, wootsy, doodads.
Lesson Learned:  Hobby Lobby 50% off is addicting.  Hot glue is awesome.  Oh, and spray paint is of the devil.

Craft #3 – Naughty/Nice Blocks

Our first experience with scrapbook paper and modge podge. 
Lesson Learned:  If spray paint is of the devil, then modge podge is the SPAWN OF SATAN!!!

Craft #4 – Popsicle Snowflakes

My favorite so far.  It actually was really easy. 
Lesson Learned:  Tacky glue is not good enough.  Bring on the hot glue.  Oh, and spray paint is still of the devil.

Craft #5 – Valentine Blocks

Wanted to try multiple projects to see which we liked better.
Lesson Learned:  Spray Paint IS THE DEVIL!!  Everyone LIES when they say it dries in 10-15 minutes!!  (okay, so maybe it has just been too cold for it to dry properly.  Hoping to have better success this summer.)

Craft #6 – Seasonal Picture Frames

We can change out the tags for the season, add banners, or other doodads. 
Lesson Learned:  Don’t put out too many choices!! 

That’s about all we have done to this point.  We have a couple of ideas of projects to do, but life seems to be getting busier.  Biggest secret we have learned about crafting:  It is all about hiding your mistakes!  Thanks to my sisters for taking this journey with me.
