Celebration Time Part II

The busiest day of the past weekend was, of course, the 4th. It is one of my favorite holiday’s (maybe because of the whole birthday thing) and we just seem to pack more and more into the day.

It started with a lunch-time BBQ with the Hawkins family. We got there just in time to start eating, and loved talking to our extended family. Dan and I were in charge of dessert since we needed to do cake and ice cream for my birthday. Well, I decided I wanted banana splits instead, so we had yummy Dreyers Loaded ice cream and tons of toppings. Luckily, Ian’s girlfriend Nicole made a cool flag cake for the holiday (thanks for sharing Nicole!) which Mark and I used to blow out our birthday candles. (Did I mention my new bro-in-law has a July B-day as well? How cool is that!! Happy Birthday Mark!)

Then the fun started. We set up a slip ‘n’ slide for the kids to play with and then the whole family got involved. Alicia even took a dive down the slide a few times. It was a total blast! It brought back great memories! Hopefully Mom and Dad’s lawn will recover.

That evening we went to the annual Street of Fire BBQ and firework show. Great chicken wings and a good show. The cool part was the jet flyover for the Stadium of Fire came over us right when we were starting up sparklers. The kids loved it!! The fireworks were amazing, of course. We sent up a few mortars, but not enough to get the cops, so all good. The boys loved their sparklers, and Garrick didn’t mind the noise at all. So a good sign!
