August 2014

Time to get caught up before I send out Christmas cards!!  See, all Alicia needs is some motivation…and a deadline!
August seems so long ago.  The only feeling I remember about it was that I was more than ready for the kids to go back to school.  We were really busy during the summer, and I was ready for a consistent schedule.  Oh, and 3 boys in school!
Got in a couple of hikes before school.  We went along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail with our friends the Johnsons.  Yep, Jolene and I with 9 kids under 10, oh and only one girl in the mix.  They still had the energy at the end to climb the mountain.

One last LHC with the kids.  This time an easy walk up to Bridal Veil Falls.  (I know I stink at selfie’s.  Totally not coordinated enough for them!)

Then we hit the first day of school.  This year it really hit me how much older my children are!

The big news for this year was G starting Kindergarten.  He was so excited!

I love G looking up to his big brothers that way.  And yes, I realize that all 3 of my boys wore Minecraft shirts the first day of school.  We have succumbed to pop culture.

Z was so bored without G all day.  He was excited to ride his wiggle car down to meet the bus.

And what better way to celebrate than to get Daylight Donuts?  I think I can go with making that a tradition every year!

In the midst of getting the kids ready for school I was finishing up my training for a triathlon.  It seemed to take forever to get here.  I had to wait until the end of summer to compete and it didn’t help that the race was postponed due to a horrible storm.  But, finally race day came and I totally rocked it!  (At least for me!)
Share a Smile Triathlon
Swim – 400 yd 9.15
T1 2.26
Bike – 11.5 mi. 37.56
T2 0.554
Run – 3.2 mi. 30.27
Total Time was: 1:21:00.  The best part was coming in 1st in my division and 2nd overall of women!!  Granted, I wasn’t too surprised when I saw the competition.  It was a very low-key tri.  Most people it seemed like it was their first time competing.  I really did like the race overall.  It is very family friendly and had a kids tri.  I’ll see what I can do to convince Connor to join me next year!
To end the month, Dan and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary.  He took me to lunch at the HuHot Mongolian Grill.  LOVED it!!  Best lunch in a long time.  I’ve been craving it ever since, but they are not very convenient to where we live.  Sure love this guy!  He takes such good care of me and the boys.  He is extraordinarily kind and loving.  I lucked out somehow!!
